Husband Tied Up, Woman Gang-raped by Neighbours in Bihar

A 32-year-old married woman was gang-raped in a village under Khabdah panchayat of Narpatganj block area of Araria district of Bihar on late Saturday night.

According to the information, during the rape, the woman’s husband was tied to a pole and beaten up.

Araria police has arrested an accused. The name of the arrested youth is Raja Kushiyat and he is a resident of Khabdah panchayat.


As per the victim’s statement filed in the Narpatganj police station, she was sleeping at home with her family after having dinner on Saturday. Meanwhile, three young men from the neighbourhood, Rajesh Paswan, Raja Kushiyat, and Ajit Kushiyat, forcefully broke into the house.

According to the woman, all three took turns to commit the heinous crime. When the husband resisted, they tied him up to a pole and continued the assault.

The incident led to the gathering of hundreds of villagers at the scene upon hearing the cries of the woman and her husband. The crowd managed to catch Raja Kushiyat and handed him over to the Narpatganj police.

The Station House Officer, Shailesh Kumar Pandey, informed that based on the victim’s complaint, one suspect was arrested after necessary questioning and sent to jail. Meanwhile, the police are conducting raids to apprehend the other suspects involved in the crime.

The police have charged the accused with rape and also applied sections of the liquor prohibition law against them.
